The Lectures

An interesting lecture on Christian Science was delivered at the Colville Opera House by Dr. Walton Hubbard. He was introduced by Mayor W. L. Sax, who said:—

The object of a Christian Science lecture is more fully to establish in the minds of men the truth about God and His creation. William Penn once wrote: "Truth is worthy of inquiry; for it is of all things the most reasonable." Jesus said, "If ye continue in my word, ... ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," free from self-imposed bondage, from petty cares and annoyances, from worries and uncertainties of business, and from the fear of sickness and death. With the present conditions it is not necessary for me to cite instances of the many problems confronting the world today,—in national and international affairs, in civic and social problems, not to mention our own personal troubles. There are many people now who believe that there is involved in the solution of these problems a law based on truth, a law that is higher and more far reaching than mere human enactments are; that the full solution depends on the working out of God's law. This is not a new proposition; the teaching of Christ Jesus is full of promises and examples of what God's law will do for man.
