It is incorrectly presumed by many that Christian Science, of which Mrs. Eddy was the Discoverer and Founder, is chiefly interested in the healing of diseases of the human body. On the contrary, physical healing in Christian Science is only incidental to the healing of sin. Mrs. Eddy's writings unfold the spiritual meaning of the Scriptures and reveal that through right thinking the human consciousness is lifted above the love of and the belief in the reality of sin. Since all manner of discordant conditions—physical, moral, financial—are the results of sin, their healing naturally follows the destruction of their cause. We see then that Mrs. Eddy wrote primarily of and Christian Science is engaged in the salvation of mankind.

Through the study of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, one finds that the Christian Science teaching and the common belief about "the soul and its destiny" are quite different. Christ Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly," and the great apostle taught that "now is the accepted time; now is the day of salvation." In referring to this apostolic teaching in Science and Health (p. 39) Mrs. Eddy says, "Not that now men must prepare for a future-world salvation, or safety, but that now is the time in which to experience that salvation in spirit and in life."
