It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I give my testimony to what Christian Science has done for me. For over five years I was constantly under the care of a physician, never knowing an hour's freedom from pain during this time. Indeed, I seemed to have every disease "that flesh is heir to." I suffered from stomach disorder in a severe form, and if I ate anything aside from the diet prescribed by the physician, the pain was terrible. The things I relished most the doctor said I would never be able to eat. It was believed that the trouble was inherited, as my father had passed on from it. I also wore glasses for five years, and was never able to recognize people across the street without them. I had backache constantly, caused from trouble at the birth of our child, and was a nervous wreck,—so nervous that I was afraid to stay in the house alone during the day. I had five doctors, but received no help. I then went to a specialist, and when he told my husband that I would never be well, we were indeed discouraged.

It was at this point that we decided to give Christian Science a trial. After the third treatment I began to improve, and I continued to do so until every ailment had vanished. That was four years and a half ago, and since then Christian Science has destroyed every discordant condition that has come up in our family. Our little boy is now nine years old, and he has been healed of mumps, measles, and other ailments common to children; all these have been overcome through Christian Science in a very short time, while his playmates would be in the care of a doctor for weeks.

Words fail me when I try to express my thankfulness to God, and my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for the peace and happiness this blessed truth has brought to our home. We realize that, as our Leader says (Science and Health, p. 4), "to keep the commandments of our Master and follow his example, is our proper debt to him and the only worthy evidence of our gratitude for all that he has done."
