If your paper has correctly reported Dr.—, his statements...
Dayton (Ohio) News
If your paper has correctly reported Dr.—, his statements show a lack of careful and honest investigation. Christian Science has been the means not only of healing sickness, but of destroying the desire for the use of tobacco, intoxicating drinks, and profanity. Even though in the first instance patients sought relief only from physical ills, yet it is a very common occurrence for them to acknowledge that with the relief from suffering the desire for these sinful habits was overcome. The very teaching this critic condemns has been the means of increasing the patient's faith in God and in the religion of Christ Jesus. Every instance of healing in Christian Science, and every case of reformation, is due to the Christian Scientist's faith in the divinity of Jesus' teachings.
In the ranks of Christian Science may be found ministers, graduated physicians who have found in Christian Science a better way of healing the sick, men of large business interests, judges, lawyers, teachers,—men and women in all vocations, including many in the common walks of life.
