As I read in our periodicals each week the gratitude expressed...
As I read in our periodicals each week the gratitude expressed for the relief which Christian Science brings from trouble and disease, a longing fills me to tell something of the great benefit this religion has been to me and mine. I became interested in Christian Science some ten years ago, not so much through the physical healing (although I had heard and seen that it did heal the sick), but through the truth lived by the Christian Scientists with whom I had become acquainted. Here let me say that my gratitude is very deep to those faithful witnesses who helped to start me on my upward journey. I had never found much comfort from religion, and there were times when I even doubted the existence of God. My little girl was then nearly three years old, and she was beginning to question me about God. I felt that a serious problem faced me, for how could I teach her what I myself did not understand or believe? I therefore began the study of Christian Science for a better understanding of God, and now it seems impossible to express the joy and thankfulness I feel for the daily unfolding of this glorious truth, which comes from a study of our Leader's writings, together with the Bible.
With this light thrown upon the Scriptures, and a right concept of God, have come the "signs following." We have had many instantaneous healings of colds, burns, headaches, and bilious attacks, and many times our little daughter has had the symptoms of some contagious disease only for it to pass away to its native nothingness before it had time to cause much suffering, thus proving the promise that God's loving protection will never fail us. All my life I was considered delicate, but now I am strong and well; indeed, we all enjoy wonderful health. We know it is ours to realize here and now something of that peace which comes from sin forsaken, hence forgiven. We have found a religion which can be used in every detail of our lives, and which, if we honestly apply its teachings, will purify every condition of human existence. Christian Science has never once failed to heal all our diseases and bring us comfort in times of trouble. There is nothing this world could offer for which I would exchange this truth, which frees us from human bondage and teaches us how to help others to be free.
