[The Advance]
Christ did more than teach a doctrine; he lived it. As the teaching of Socrates is mightily enforced by the calmness with which he awaited death, conversing the while of immortality, so, and far more significantly, the teaching of Jesus found reenforcement in what he did regarding life and death, and in his authoritative assurance of a continued life. Did Socrates die confident that he would live in another world? Jesus died confident that he would live eternally in the lives of those he loved; that his life, still present, would be in them a mighty influence for righteousness.
