I noticed an item in the Free Press giving a synopsis of the remarks of the pastor of the North Woodward Methodist church on the subject of the Christian Science doctrines. I do not belong to the Christian Science church, but I am closely associated with some of its members and have given their doctrines some study, and I find that they build more fully on the promises of Jesus Christ than any other denomination that I know of. They are the happiest and most contented people in the world, and as a body the most prosperous. I always supposed that it was one of the principal duties of a minister of the gospel to try to make people happy. Does criticism of the Scientists make them happier? Does it make the members of the North Woodward Methodist church better citizens by trying to prejudice them against their neighbors?
