I used to doubt the statements of the apostles, prophets,...

I used to doubt the statements of the apostles, prophets, and great men of the Bible, wherein there was any claim of miraculous events, although it was not in accord with the teachings of my church to question these things; but I loved the achievements of these great men.

A few years ago I moved to the country, where my church was represented, represented, and I felt quite isolated. It, however, seemed that God came to me through the finding of a Christian Science Quarterly tucked in a drawer of a piece of furniture I had purchased, and I began to study it daily, as it seemed to fit a need. I already had a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," but I had read it as I would read Aristotle or Emerson, as a philosophical work. Now the new light of religion illumined its pages, as well as those of the Bible, and I have become an earnest student of Mrs. Eddy's wonderful scientific statements of the truth about God and man.

Formerly I was obliged to recline on a couch most of the time on account of the pain I suffered, but I am now well, happy, and strong, helping others instead of always applying for help. I know the change is due to my obedience to the immutable laws of God as revealed to us by our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and I feel deeply grateful. It is three years since I found her teachings to be practical and of every-day use. I have been healed of chronic bowel disorder and an internal rupture. I no longer use drugs or material remedies of any kind, but apply Christian Science as occasion arises, and I have never failed to get relief.
