The Rev. Mr.—is reported in a recent issue to have indulged in some intemperate and unjust reflections on Christian Science, and it is not the first time the gentleman has been guilty of unchristian comment on this teaching. While Christian Scientists have on these different occasions been subject to these attacks, they have endeavored on all occasions to maintain a right Christian attitude toward this evangelist and his work. They have indulged in no vituperation, no denunciations. While his methods and his dissertations on religion may not have appealed to them, they have had no wish to interfere with him or to embarrass him with caustic criticism. He, however, has not been so considerate, but indulges in coarse and abusive language in expressing his attitude toward them.

The charge of this evangelist that Christian Science cannot save a soul is merely puerile, in view of the well-known efficacy of Christian Science in reclaiming the sinner and healing the sick. The evangelist makes no pretense of following the command of Jesus to "heal the sick," but proclaims from his desk that Christian Science, which does heal the sick, is the devil's trick scheme. Perhaps he has overlooked the fact that he is following the Pharisees, who made exactly the same charge against Jesus.
