I am deeply grateful for what Christian Science has done...
I am deeply grateful for what Christian Science has done for me. Like many others, I came to Christian Science only as a last resort, as I had been a member of another church for a number of years. Praying to an unknown God, somewhere in the heavens, I opened my Bible and read of Jesus' teachings, and I believed that this healing was for us if we only understood it. When all material means had failed and I had no other hope, I turned to God and was healed. I found that Christian Science is the truth of Jesus' teaching for which I had been longing.
In May, 1912, I came to Christian Science through some Scientists living in a near-by town. I was suffering from a complication of diseases, namely, stomach disorder, anemia, heart disease, sleeplessness, and a serious bladder trouble for which the doctors advised an operation, as well as from extreme nervousness and mental depression. After having suffered this way for seven months, getting only such sleep as could be produced by opiates, it seemed to me I would either go crazy or die of a broken heart. I was healed by a faithful Christian Science practitioner after six weeks' treatment, a part of which was absent.
I feel grateful not only for my healing, but for the spiritual uplift which I am receiving each day through the study of our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and all our literature. We have had so many proofs of God's power to heal in our family! My husband was healed of influenza and a cough. I have been healed of a female complaint of seventeen years' standing, which had caused me to have a very weak back. With only a little understanding of Science and Health I have been able to overcome toothache, neuralgia, and headache, to which I had been subject for a number of years. As I began to apply the teaching of Christian Science, one by one these ailments have yielded to the power of Truth, until they dissolved into their native nothingness. Now every day is beautiful, each one bringing added blessings. Here I would like to express my great thankfulness for this proof of God's love, and my gratitude to those who have so lovingly and kindly helped to show me the way. I am also deeply grateful for Mrs. Eddy's writings, which have been the means of bringing to my understanding the wonderful truth taught by her.
