[Written for the Sentinel]

Alone with God

Alone with God!Wrapped in the solitude of peace,There comes a sense of sweet releaseFrom dark despair.I mount the altar-stairs of life,My spirit with new impulse rifeTo do and dare.

Alone with God!I seem to roam in pastures green,Where all is quiet and serene,Where rivers runComplacently to meet the sea,And babbling brooks greet joyouslyThe rising sun.
