[Written for the Sentinel]

Thought-bells

Ring soft, ring low, thought-bells in my heart,
For attuned by Love you're winging
An angel-truth to some burdened one,
That awakes to join your singing.

Ring sweet, ring clear, your glad matin song
To the dawn of light now breaking,
The dusky dreams of sin's starless night
From its silvery pinions shaking.

Ring soft, ring low, thought-bells in my heart,
With your love-tuned music stealing
Through aisles of peace to a chanceled truth,
Where a quiet joy is kneeling.
