Twenty-five years ago I came to Christian Science, not for physical healing, but because this teaching was presented to me as a beautiful religion. At that time I was active in the church in which I had been raised, being a teacher in the Sunday school and also leader of the young people's Sunday evening meetings. The same year I took class instruction in Christian Science under a teacher who had been healed by Mrs. Eddy, and who went to Boston every year. I always watched anxiously for her return, for she was sure to bring us loving messages from our Leader.
Shortly after coming into the understanding of Christian Science I was healed of a severe case of catarrh, which I had had from the age of six and for which the oldest physician in the place said there was absolutely no cure. He said he might be able to give me something that would help me, but there was nothing that would effect a cure. I also had two growths in my head, which discharged blood continually, and for six and eight months at a time I could not breathe through my nose; but this condition was entirely overcome in less than six months through Christian Science, and I am exceedingly grateful. I am so thankful that Jesus' method of healing, so many centuries lost to the world, was rediscovered by Mrs. Eddy and by her made plain to us in that most wonderful book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
Soon after coming into the understanding of Christian Science, my mother was healed of an immense and very painful goiter, which she had had for twenty years and which no medicines had relieved. The growth disappeared entirely. I had left home for a short time, and on returning found her wearing a smaller collar than I did myself. For this healing I am exceedingly grateful.
