Oak Leaves
As reported in a recent issue, under the caption "Miracles of Jesus," Dr.—maintains that the healing of disease through Christian Science, as well as the "miracles" of Jesus which he mentions, are not to be attributed to God's power, and undertakes to explain both away. While Christian Scientists will be gratified to find this acknowledgment of their "works," they must protest as a matter of their own experience that the doctor's conclusions are unwarranted. One thing is certain: that Christian Science depends upon no power but that of God, whether it be confronted by the appearance of sin, sorrow, degradation, or disease, and consistently denies all other seeming power. It is obvious that Christian Scientists cannot be adept in the use of powers they do not believe in, and as the healing work of Christian Science goes on successfully in all parts of the world and has been proved effective for over forty years with all sorts of disease, the conclusion is unavoidable to Christian Scientists that God does heal the sick, for the proof lies within their own experience. They consequently find it easy to realize how Jesus with his unequaled understanding could have performed the miracles recounted in the Bible.
