Preservation

Many times through the year do Christian Scientists pause to offer thanks to God for the ever-ascending pathway outlined by our Lesson-Sermons in the refreshing and healing references given us month after month, and also for the demonstrations which follow their study.

One of these Lessons had brought peace and joy throughout the week, for each day unfolded new beauties, with added strength and better understanding. Late Saturday evening a Christian Science student turned once more to this wonderful subject, "God the Preserver of Man," to find what the "clear straining of truth" (Science and Health, p. 65) would yet give for class work in the Sunday school, as well as for individual need. Suddenly, upon reading this Bible reference, "There shall not an hair of your head perish," a great sense of impending danger for a far-distant dear one's family came to thought. The Lesson was laid aside while God's loving omnipresence was realized and declared. Soon a light shone in consciousness, peace was restored, and the Lesson was finished.

A night of peaceful repose followed, while the song of harmony was, "All is well." A day like a foretaste of heaven on earth followed. The church service brought a greater unfolding of the truth and a sense of being on "the rock." In the Sunday school class work, the careful preparation of the Lesson was evidenced by all in the clear and helpful responses of the pupils.
