From Our Exchanges

[Rev. W. E. Orchard, D.D., in The Christian Commonwealth]

There will always be more that God can do, and certainly always more for us to learn, but nothing new will contradict or break away from what has gone before. To know God at all is to know Him altogether. We need not assume, because of the perfection of the revelation of God in Jesus Christ, that there will be no further revelation, or that God has exhausted His glory or truth; but it will all be of the same order, one eternal wisdom expressing itself in infinite and ever more expanding ways.

We may change toward Him, He will not change toward us. Our thoughts of Him must change, but He changes not, and what He is will always be better than our very best. Whatever is lost,—love, light, life itself,—God remains, and in God remains all that is not delusion or lie. Our highest happiness, our eternal identity, the best that we were meant to be, is absolutely assured. Not only shall nothing be ultimately lost, it shall be as if it had never been thought to be lost. Sin shall be as if it never had been, tears shall be wiped away, sorrow forgotten, death overcome.
