[Translated from the French]

For several years I suffered from rheumatism and nervous...

For several years I suffered from rheumatism and nervous troubles, and in addition to these ills I became afflicted in August, 1912, with local paralysis of the nerves of the right side, accompanied by a marked displacement of the shoulderblade. I had one hundred electrical treatments, besides using various internal and external remedies according to the diagnosis of the physicians whom I consulted. At the end of the year 1912, after five months of treatment, my condition was unchanged, and I not only despaired of ever experiencing healing, but even felt that I could hardly expect any kind of improvement.

It was then that a friend discreetly called my attention to Christian Science, which I had never heard mentioned before, and it came to me as a revelation. My decision was quick, and I consulted a practitioner without delay in order to obtain the desired information and explanations on the subject. We agreed readily, though the religious standards according to which I had been reared still had their hold on me. She then undertook to help me, and pursued her aim so conscientiously that after a month I was able to translate somewhat from the English, with which I had not been in the least familiar. I felt that I was receiving valuable instruction, and that with work and patience I would surely reach the point where my dormant thought would be awakened and where I would get rid of the errors which were besetting me. The second month my condition was greatly improved, the third month I felt well, and the fourth I was healed.

I would like to add to this testimony the following interesting instance of healing. Last spring, while on my way to the office one morning, I was seized with a violent attack of illness, and shortly after I reached there my condition became so acute that I had to ask to be taken home. I notified the practitioner, and she immediately gave me treatment, and later in the afternoon helped me again. The effects were not long delayed, for that same day I was freed, I may say instantaneously, from the attack, and able to resume my work the next day.
