Words that Heal

The student of Christian Science soon learns that thought underlies all the words that are spoken, and he thus comes to be more discriminating in his use of them than ever before. The testimonies published in our periodicals, and those given at the Wednesday evening meetings, sometimes tell of the overcoming of the habit of profanity, in conjuction with the healing of disease and other ills, showing that as one awakens to the dignity of real manhood he becomes more of a gentleman. Students of Christian Science recognize the power of right thoughts, and these naturally call for right words. As a familiar hymn has it (Hymnal, p. 160),—

I myself would gracious be,
And, with words that help and heal,
Would Thy life in mine reveal.
