The Mercury,
The question is asked, If the lecturer gained health through Christian Science, why are Christian Scientists ever ill? In answer, it may be said that Christian Scientists enjoy better health than when they believed in the theory of life and intelligence in matter. But they do not claim immunity from disease and discord, for they do not profess to have attained that full understanding of divine Truth which they are nevertheless daily striving to gain. Why, it is also asked, do Christian Scientists persist in dying? "Surely some of them would choose to live forever." Christian Scientists know that man, being immortal, does live forever; that he does not have to die to live; that life is intact, and immortality is not reached through the portals of the tomb; and this knowledge destroys the fear of death as well as any wish ever to anticipate it.
