After scoffing at Christian Science, I finally accepted...
After scoffing at Christian Science, I finally accepted treatment for a chronic form of rheumatism. Even then my faith was not all it should be, until I was healed of asthma of seventeen years' standing, which I had been told by a physician would develop into tubercular disease in less than a year. Some time later, while entering the subway, I injured my ankle, and it was found on examination that the ligaments had been torn. I had to be carried into the train, and in less than five minutes my foot was so swollen that it was crowded entirely out of my low shoe and became badly discolored. My friends insisted upon an X-ray examination, feeling sure that the injury was even more severe than it appeared; but I asked for the privilege of remaining quiet and having treatment in Christian Science. This was given me, and the healing of the sense of pain was instantaneous, so that I was immediately able to walk. In one week the swelling had entirely gone, and in ten days the discoloration disappeared. To the witnesses of this accident and my condition this speedy healing seemed incredible.
The physical healing is, however, the least of the blessings I have received. Through this great truth I have been able to overcome the sense of hatred, revenge, domestic infelicities, limitation, and above all, to acquire that peace "which passeth all understanding." I give this testimony with a heart full of gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for Science and Health, which is truly a "Key to the Scriptures."
Mrs. W. H. Heckmann, New York, N. Y.
