In this day and time there can be but little excuse for confusing Christian Science with the many forms of "drugless healing" which are constantly springing up. The great difficulty lies in the fact that those not well informed, or who approach the subject carelessly, regard Christian Science as mere system of drug abstinence, when this is only a very small part of the teaching of Mrs. Eddy, and is but the natural outcome of a strictly spiritual teaching. Christian Science comes to heal and does heal every form of sin and sickness, and thus its adherents find no use for materia medica, but the non-use of materia medica is far from being confined to them or even to people of a religious way of thinking. Christian Science is, if you please, a system of right thinking which leads to an absolute knowledge of God and His relation to man and the universe. Being science, it is necessarily exact in its premises and conclusions and admits of no blind faith or haphazard methods. Fleeting chance and change have no part in the Christianity of the Bible, and it should not be thought strange that Christian Scientists contend for a working knowledge of God fully as accurate and demonstrable as that of any of the so-called material sciences.
Bubbles we earn with a whole soul's tasking:
'Tis heaven alone that is given away,
'Tis only God may be had for the asking.
