My gratitude can never be expressed for what Christian Science has done for me and my family. I was brought up out of darkest Egypt into the promised land,—out of bondage into freedom. Science has taught me to love God, good, instead of fearing Him. Being brought up in a religious home, I was always striving to get a better understanding of God, that I might help others. Since I have come into the understanding of God and know that He is omnipotent, always with us, I can say: "Now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation;" "Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee."

About nine years ago I was healed in Christian Science of a dislocated kneecap after being three months on crutches. Two physicians told me I would no doubt be a cripple for life, but with less than five treatments in Christian Science I was healed. Not being able to get the right understanding of Science at that time, I remained in the church, one of the most miserable persons on earth, always thinking that Christian Scientists had a different and more practical religion than mine was. Indeed, I was very jealous of them. What little understanding I had of their religion made me feel that it was good, and I was sure it was the teaching of Jesus; but I was afraid of it, as it seemed so different from what I had been taught.

Again Truth came knocking at my door. About three years ago my husband was healed instantaneously in Christian Science of a very severe form of stomach trouble, so bad that even water would distress him and he could not retain it. My daughter was also healed of measles in two treatments. Since that time I have had the privilege of class instruction and have seen a number of cases healed instantaneously. Since I have entered into this great field to work, after I have gotten my patients to work and know they are sincere, I always ask them if they would not like to own a copy of science and Health. As a rule they will always say, "Yes, but I am not quite ready for it, as I want the pocket edition when I get one." I have known of four different people to say this, and I have always replied, "Your sacrifice will open up God's supply." Each time they would come and tell me that they had bought the text-book, and had found my words to be true. I found this to be equally applicable in my own home, when I gave my daughter a copy of Science and Health for a present. She had none of her own, and we like our own things best; so I secured the book, and the next day one whom I had helped sent me the needed amount.
