Enough time has passed since my healing in Christian Science to convince myself and others that I have been freed from rheumatism, lung trouble, and nervousness. From childhood I was a sufferer and was a continual source of anxiety to my mother on that account. Later in life I was obliged to earn my own living, but although I had been under medical treatment from infancy I seemed to grow gradually weaker and naturally became discouraged. The last doctor who attended me said one lung was almost gone and the other affected. Believing this, the future seemed dark and the present nothing but slavery under these conditions.

Just at this time a former class leader (I was a Wesleyan) told me of Christian Science. With only a faint gleam of hope I resolved to make an opportunity as soon as possible to attend a service. It was not the size of the church nor of the congregation that attracted me, but a sweet sense of protection, love, and peace which came over me and made me long to know more about this truth. At the end of the service I obtained a list of practitioners from one of the ushers, chose one of them, and asked for treatment right away. After the first treatment I left off my glasses, which I had worn constantly for eight years because of an injury I had received, and the optician had told me I could never do without them. I was delighted at being able to see so well without them and even to read.

The following week I was healed of pain my ankle which always attacked me when walking any distance, owing to the ankle having been somewhat twisted by a fall from a tram-car about fourteen years previous. Not only has there been no return of the pain, but the ankle bone is now in its normal condition. After six week's treatment I felt myself a new woman. I knew I was thoroughly healed, and I began to feel that I, too, had a work to do in life; that I could do it, for my every need would be met. How gladly I paid my practitioner, for I felt I had received more in six weeks from the teachings of Mrs. Eddy than I had received in thirty years from material remedies. These "signs" convinced me that Christian Science is Christianity practised, but I feel my gratitude can best be shown by following our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, in obeying God's law.
