AMONG THE CHURCHES

Ground was broken here today [Aug. 9] for the chapel of First Church of Christ, Scientist, at Carpenter and Main streets. The building will be of cottage colonial style, divided into a main auditorium and two class rooms, with a seating capacity of about one hundred and forty. It will be ready for use about Jan. 1. The local society has been using the church of the Free Baptist society, having outgrown their prior temporary quarters.—Boston Journal.

The first service in the new Christian Science church was held yesterday [July 2] at 10:45 a.m., about three hundred attending. Aside from the invitations which were sent out, no official recognition of the fact that this was the first service was taken.
