Since I began to study Christian Science I have undergone...

Since I began to study Christian Science I have undergone so great a mental change that I scarcely know myself. The world is indeed a different place. As the result of burdens too heavy for my shoulders and responsibilities too great for my years, I became a nervous wreck. It was a case where the doctors were able to do little except to recommend outdoor living; but it was of no benefit, as my trouble was principally mental—a fact that I seemed to realize more clearly than any one else. I missed the significance of everything, my memory was almost gone, and I had lost the power of concentration. There seemed to be a heavy veil before my mental vision, through which I was constantly struggling to see. Life was not worth living, and all I asked was that it might end.

It has ended—but very differently from the way I had thought. After my first treatment in Christian Science the sense of depression, of hopelessness, had vanished like the morning mist, and I felt I had indeed been born again. The heavenly dove had descended on me, and with the apostle I can truly say that I have beheld a new heaven and a new earth.
