Over two years ago a friend came to visit me one day, and found me in a critical condition, suffering with a distressing ailment. When she asked me if I had thought of trying Christian Science, I said I had not, that I thought it was good for those who were melancholy, but not for any one in great pain, as I was. At this time I knew nothing of Christian Science, but had tried every available material remedy, and the physician had done all he could for me, without my getting relief; so I decided to try Christian Science, as I felt sure it could do me no harm, even if it did not do me any good, as I did not have to take any medicine.

I had worn glasses for twenty years (I was nearly blind in one eye), and the optician said that I would always have to wear them, as he knew of no cure for the condition. Since taking up Christian Science, however, I have done fine needlework, reading, writing, or anything I wanted to do, even by lamplight. I have felt no need of glasses and have had no pain in my eyes. I can also see equally well with both eyes, and this is a great comfort to me. For nine years I had suffered from a bad skin disease, but found no physician who could diagnose my case, although they told me that it was a bad one. At times my face was in such a condition as to cause me much suffering and humiliation. I had tried many remedies, but nothing proved a permanent cure. I had at one time a very severe attack of spinal meningitis and had never fully recovered from it, much of the time being unable to attend to the duties of my home, having severe headaches which lasted several days at a time. Besides this I had bowel and kidney trouble, also a lung affection, having at one time been given up to die by one of the best of physicians; but, thanks to God and Christian Science, my lungs are strong again. Thin cotton clothing has taken the place of the heaviest woolen, and I have never felt the cold so little as in the past year.

All these diseases of long standing were met and overcome in one Christian Science treatment. In one hour from the time the practitioner began treating me, I was free from pain for the first time since I was a child; I could eat anything I wanted to without its giving me any distress, and have been practically well ever since. When any discordant condition appears, I take "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and with the truth as presented by her in our text-book, every condition has been quickly met. I am thankful to God for this truth which makes us free from the bondage of sin, disease, and death; also to Mrs. Eddy for her sacrifices in making it possible for us to gain this understanding as God has revealed it to her.
