A few years ago I had a most painful attack, said to be caused by passing a kidney stone. At that time a physician was unable to relieve me except by giving me repeated hypodermics, and even then I suffered terribly for hours. Later, I had another attack, even more violent than the first. At seven in the evening a Christian Science practitioner was called by telephone to give me absent treatment, and in fifteen minutes after she had responded the pain was so much relieved that I was sitting quietly and was decidedly better. In half an hour I went to bed, and by nine o'clock the pain was entirely gone, and nothing remained of the trouble but a sense of extreme soreness in the kidney when I tried to take a deep breath. I was able by the next morning to get up as usual and go about my business. The soreness left gradually, the practitioner giving me two more treatments. On the third day after the attack I was entirely well. I had none of the after effects which had followed the attack a few years before.
