I feel it a duty, also a great privilege, to testify to the benefits I have received from Christian Science, for which I thank God. I have been helped both physically and mentally. When I first heard of Christian Science I scoffed at it, and thought that Christian Scientists were dreadful people, although I had never asked one of them what it taught; I had only gained my knowledge from non-Scientists.
Two years later, I was in need of physical help. I had been under a doctor for over a year, but he did me no permanent good. I prayed to God to take me to Himself, as I was a misery to myself and other people; but instead He gave me Christian Science, which makes it clear to us that in God man lives, moves, and has his being. How could I die if God is man's life? Christian Science has given me a sense of peace such as I never thought it was possible to have in this world; but I now know that God does not afflict man, for God is Love, and in Him "is no darkness at all." I never was so happy in my life as I am now! I have been cured of very severe colds, which were always accompanied by a most distressing cough, and I could get nothing to relieve me. I have had only one cold in the four years I have been in Science, and then the cough lasted only a brief time. I have been cured also of bowel trouble of many years' standing, besides nervousness, headache, toothache, and many other ailments. Christian Science is a cure for every ill, if it is applied in the right way!
Above all the physical help is the spiritual healing. It is such a comfort to understand God, and to know what the real man is. I know I cannot show my love and gratitude to God, or my appreciation of Mrs. Eddy, better than by trying to help others as I have been helped.
