One of the strongest attractions which Christian Science had for me when it first came under my notice, was the thought that God is a God of love, always the refuge and strength of His children. This truth was demonstrated for me at first by kind Christian Scientists, and later I was able to demonstrate it in a measure for myself. I experienced that spiritual uplifting which fills one with perfect peace and gives a glimpse of heaven on earth. One evening, very soon after I began the study of Christian Science, I burned my hand quite severely. To mortal sense the pain was very great, but by knowing the truth and holding fast to it, with the help of a kind friend who was present, the trouble was overcome in less than ten minutes, and the hand did not even blister. As I have grown in the understanding of Christian Science, I have realized more and more that "where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." I wish to express my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for her great efforts in behalf of Christianity, and to God, who is ever-present intelligence and Life.
Mrs. Jeannette Petty, Lincoln, Neb.
My eyes had been pronounced incurable by an eminent physician, but after a Christian Science practitioner came to us and told us that with God all things are possible, and explained the truth to us, the pain left my head. In about two weeks I visited the practitioner and went to church with her, and as I did not seem to need my glasses, which I had worn constantly for nearly six years, I took them off. I had been told that I would always have to wear glasses, and even with them had suffered much pain. This happened about six years ago, and I have never needed to use glasses since. I did bookkeeping for quite a large store for about a year, which gave my eyes some severe tests. Even smoke, which I could not stand before I was healed, has not the effect on me which it formerly had.
