No one can correctly analyze a problem in mathematics...

Omaha (Neb.) Bee

No one can correctly analyze a problem in mathematics without a practical knowledge of its fundamentals; likewise, no one is competent to judge Christian Science unless he possesses sufficient understanding to demonstrate, in a degree, its teaching. From the view-point of demonstration seeming "vagaries" disappear and adverse criticism yields to scientific reasoning. By the passing on of Mrs. Eddy the Christian Science church has lost a wise counselor, but it is in no danger of disintegrating, for the organization is the outgrowth not of her personality, but of her teaching, which remains intact to guide Christian Scientists individually and collectively.

Christian Science is not an "American" invention, but the discovery of the availability of God's law in every age and its adaptability to the needs of all mankind. It restores the function of physical healing to religion through the understanding that theology and medicine are one and inseparable in essence and action, overcoming both sin and sickness. Operating as spiritual law, it is in no way allied to suggestive therapeutics, which acts through a belief in sentient matter. Christian Scientists, content with a demonstrable knowledge of good, have not in the past practised mental suggestion, nor will they in the future adopt its methods, but will pursue their own course, undisturbed by conflicting opinions.
