I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. I had an experience which has appealed to me more than all others that I have had. I was painting on the roof of a large building, and through the mistake of a fellow-employee in handling the ropes which secured my ladder, I fell to the ground, a distance of almost forty feet. When I realized my danger, instantly the thought came to me, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494), and this was such a source, of strength to me that I did not have any sense of fear nor did I feel the shock of the fall. I landed on one foot, then fell over on my elbow; but I immediately rose to my knees, then got upon my feet and commenced to walk about. All the while I clung steadfastly to the truth, knowing that God was my life. I then asked for assistance, and was helped home. Part of the way, a distance of over four blocks, I walked almost unaided. I then secured the services of a Christian Science practitioner.

The accident had happened about ten o'clock in the morning, and by noon that same day I was able to go to the dinner table and eat. The remainder of that day there was a sensation of soreness all over my body and I could hardly move, but I experienced no pain. The next day, however, I was able to walk up town with no support whatever, and from then on I gained steadily, so that in less than three weeks I was in good enough condition to go to work. I had received injuries to my ribs, also severe internal injuries, and besides this there were indications that a bone in my foot was affected.

In view of my complete restoration, I feel that I have very much to be thankful for, not only for the help here mentioned, but also for many other blessings. Christian Science appeals to me not only for the physical benefits received from it, but also for the spiritual uplifting. It carries with it a sense of security which is never wanting in time of trouble. I feel deep gratitude for what Mrs. Eddy has done in making known the divine Principle of healing, that we may live the truth every day.
