Four years ago this past January I had an acute attack of lung trouble, from which I had suffered several times before, always being confined to the bed and taking medicine. At this particular time, I would not listen to the taking of drugs. My father had just started a course in Christian Science treatment, and a copy of "Science and Health Health with Key to the Scriptures" was on the table near me. It was suggested to me to read it, but I said that I felt too ill to do so. Finally, however, I did so, and I think I am safe in stating that I had not read more than a dozen pages when I felt relieved; I seemed to rise out of it all, and from that day I have never had any return of the disease.
Another great blessing which I received was during March, 1909, when I was healed of a growth in my left nostril, of ten years' standing. I had suffered terribly from it, life being almost a burden to me. I was told that an operation would be my only relief. I had taken material treatment for many months, but I was unable, even on the very hottest summer night, to sit out of doors without having my head wrapped up, and I had a cold almost constantly, which at times was so severe that I could not lie down. It caused almost constant headache, also pain in the left eye and ear. The night this blessed truth was demonstrated to me, I had retired to my room when the growth dropped into my throat. I coughed and it was then ejected. It was disposed of without the slightest pain or any loss of blood.
I certainly am very thankful to God, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for the blessings bestowed on me and mine,—not alone for the physical healing, but for the spiritual help that is ours every day, and also for the privilege of striving constantly to gain the right to be called a true Christian Scientist.—Mrs. Rose Oppermann, Indianapolis, Ind.
