"God is omnipotent, supreme" (Science and Health, p. 17). These were the words which brought me out of darkness into light! For about fifteen months I had heard Christian Science argued for and against, and although I recognized it as a very beautiful doctrine, and Science and Health a book that all mankind would be better for reading, I put it aside, not feeling that I had any need of it, as I was satisfied with my own concept of God and the Bible. I took life as I found it, and was happy as a rule. I was, however, living with one who was not so happily constituted, and for the sake of this one I began to read the Sentinel, and finally wished I really could understand what this Christian Science healing was, for I could not help noticing what a difference it had made in the lives of two people from America who had been paying us a visit.

No sooner was the real desire there, than it was answered. I went to bed one night wishing I could understand how physical ailments could be healed without medicine or doctors, and next morning on awakening it came to me like a flash of lightning that it is God who heals, and that He did not require anything to aid Him. I immediately knew that I need not take a cup of tea before rising in order to cure a headache from which I always suffered in the morning, and from that day to this—a little over three years ago—I have never resorted to drugs or medicine or material means of any kind for healing physical ailments.

I simply knew that "God is omnipotent, supreme," and this knowledge has enabled me to overcome all physical ailments. Headache, colds, inflammation of the eye, neuralgia, throat trouble,—all these came up one after the other, as if to tempt me; but the light had dawned, and with the study of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, all were quickly overcome. I am glad to say that headaches from which I had suffered all my life are now unknown to me. I used to suffer with neuralgia in almost every form, and at times the pain was so great that I could neither sit, stand, nor lie down, with any ease. Christian Science has quite healed me of this, and many other ailments have also been overcome, some instantaneously, others more slowly; but I have proved that Truth heals where drugs and other material means have failed.
