I came into Christian Science about two years ago...
I came into Christian Science about two years ago, through the healing of our little girl, who was three years old at the time she became ill. We called in a medical practitioner, and he diagnosed the case as a very severe attack of throat affection. She had always been considered a very delicate child, and the first year I had hardly had her out of my arms day or night. We had given her medicine continually; in fact, up to this time. The medical doctor did all that he could do for her, and had a speicalist to consult with him, but he gave no hope. Knowing no other way to do for her, they continued to administer a powerful drug which is considered most effective in such cases.
At this time my husband and I decided to let her die in peace, but my mother, who had been interested in Christian Science for some time, advised us that as no more could be done in medicine we should try this treatment. I talked with my husband about it, and we were agreed that she should not be tortured any longer, as to all appearance she was dying. We then learned the name of a Christian Science practitioner through a lady who lived near us, and the fact that this practitioner had been a medical doctor for twenty years seemed to give us courage. We thought that if a medical doctor could leave his profession and turn to Christian Science, there must be something in it. We had no particular faith that our baby would live, but it was the last hope and we grasped it, with the result that in two hours after the first treatment our baby was sleeping. She continued to sleep more peacefully as the night wore on, then she woke up and asked for milk and water and went back to sleep. She slept twenty-four hours, then got up and was dressed. She ate everything she wished the following day, was perfectly normal, and has been in good health ever since.
Through this experience we have learned that God is an ever-present help in trouble, and that Truth does, when applied understandingly, overcome error in whatever form it appears. We are all very grateful and happy for what
