AMONG THE CHURCHES

Ground has been broken for the erection of the new church building for First Church of Christ, Scientist, on the northeast corner of Ninth and Bluff streets. This property was purchased about eight years ago, and the residence on the property was remodeled and used for church purposes until last fall, when it was torn down to make way for the new structure.

The new building, which is to be of gray pressed brick with white trimmings, will cover all of the lot excepting a small space on the east and west sides, which will be filled in with a grass plat. The total valuation of the property will be about thirty-five thousand dollars. The building will be two stories with a basement. The Sunday School room and large foyer will occupy the first floor, and the entire second floor will be used for the auditorium, which will seat about five hundred. The style of architecture will be that used generally throughout the country by churches of this denomination. It is expected that the structure will be completed by Sept. I.—Telegraph-Herald.
