With a heart filled with gratitude and love, I wish to acknowledge a few of the blessings which have come into my life through the study of Christian Science, in the hope that others may be helped along the way. Three and a half years ago a copy of Science and Health was secured from the public library, and I began to read it, more out of curiosity perhaps, at first, than with the expectation of finding hidden therein great treasure. I did not understand what it taught, but I continued to read with the ever recurring desire to read more and learn something about this Science which made people better. There was but little time each day to devote to the reading, but at the end of three months the realization of having lost a number of things dawned upon me, some of which were severe headaches, chronic stomach and liver trouble, a bowel disorder, and glasses, which had been worn for sixteen years. As I had expected to carry these burdens as long as I lived, the joy of losing them was great; but only as progress was made, and little by little the truth came to my consciousness, did the real joy appear. I find that just in proportion as I put into practice the understanding which I have, adverse conditions are overcome.
Later, through the help of a faithful practitioner, a sense of grief was overcome, which brought the understanding that there is no separation in divine Love. It is my constant desire to follow ever more closely in the footsteps of Christ Jesus, and prove by my daily living that which is pure and good and true. I am very grateful for the opportunity afforded me of class instruction, for our Christian Science literature; grateful to God, and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, to whom was revealed the truth which enabled her to give to the world our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." —Adeline Donn, Chicago, Ill.
