In Christian Science practice there is no compounding...
Temple (Tex.) Telegram
In Christian Science practice there is no compounding of mind and matter. On the contrary, Christian Science teaches that spirit and matter are opposites, hence do not combine or coalesce. Dependence on one will destroy confidence in the other, because they are opposites and produce opposite effects. The Christian Scientist depends solely upon the divine Mind, God the great Physician, for deliverance from sin and from disease. He is taught to have implicit faith in God, and to follow the teachings of Christ Jesus, who healed by spiritual means alone and who taught his followers to do likewise. He said: "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
When it is known that a majority of those who appeal to Christian Science for healing do so after all material means have failed and they are in a state of mental and physical bankruptcy, and are without hope and without God in the world, and that a large percentage of such cases are healed, this fact alone should suffice to prove that Christian Science is the most efficacious healing remedy known among men. If such results are obtained today, what may we expect when all men speak well of Christian Science and the majority of them depend wholly upon its healing efficacy?
A professed Christian should be unwilling to make light of the very thing that gave such impetus to Christianity in the early Christian era. The truth uttered by Christ Jesus and his disciples has lost none of its healing power, and its presence is again recognized among the children of men, and is seen repeating the wonderful works of healing the sick and reforming the sinner. Because of the good it is accomplishing, Christian Science should not be resisted and throttled, but should be welcomed and encouraged.
