THE LECTURES

A capacity house listened attentively to the lecture delivered last night [Jan. 19] by Frank H. Leonard, at the Auditorium. W. H. Harwood introduced the speaker and said in part,—

This splendid audience is abundant evidence of a widespread interest in the subject of Christian Science. It demonstrates the fact that there is an earnest desire among thinking people for more knowledge of its teachings. It proves that mankind is ever responsive to ennobling, refining, and uplifting influences, and not only willing but eager to be taught great truths.

Whether we are adherents of this particular church or not, we cannot escape the admission that many people have been greatly benefited both spiritually and physically by the teachings of Christian Science. Simply a casual or superficial consideration of the testimonies of Christian Scientists will convince the most skeptical that many remarkable cures have been effected, and what is even better, many have been freed from the bondage of sin and ruinous habits, and transformed from unhappy, envious, jealous, despairing creatures to happy, generous, unselfish, optimistic men and women, with courage to meet every emergency of life.—Register and Leader.
