I have learned that I cannot better express my gratitude...
I have learned that I cannot better express my gratitude to God for what Christian Science has done for me than by trying to follow faithfully the teachings of our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy. When this truth first came to me, it was as a beacon-light, for we were bound down to mortal sense with ailments that baffled the physicians. After taking up Christian Science we began to improve in health, so much so that we wanted every one to accept it, and we would try in our feeble way to explain our knowledge of the truth to some of our most intimate friends. We learned afterward that these friends would say among themselves that we were beside ourselves. Thank God, they too have accepted Christian Science and today are among its stanchest adherents. We thus see that a slight gleam of truth will never lose its power on those who are hungering for a full salvation, the truth which will save them from the dire effects of mortal belief.
What a blessing it is to know that one in this wide world of ours was spiritually minded enough to receive this God-given truth, and whose spiritual perception enabled her to present it to a sin-sick world in such a manner that we have been able to grasp its import, or at least to gain a sufficient understanding, through the study of Science and Health, to enable us to reflect a little of its healing power. The more we read Science and Health and ponder its teachings, the more we are impressed with the thought that the author must have been inspired to have written such a wonderful book. All the wealth of this world could not buy my copy of our text-book if I could not get another. Could we give up such a book, one whose teachings have raised us up from the grave to health and strength?
I am a veteran of the Civil War, and was healed of diseases contracted in the service,—rheumatism, bowel and heart trouble, the latter so bad that I would fall to the floor. I also received my eyesight after having worn glasses for fifteen years. I am able to work every day, and am seventy-five years old. The ailments mentioned were all healed by the thorough study of our text-book. I was also healed with one treatment of a complaint considered incurable by materia medica.—H. F. Strong, Greenville, Mich.
