The psalmist has said, "Oh, that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" and though it is my greatest joy to tell others of the blessings I have received through Christian Science, I feel I have too long delayed to acknowledge them through the wider medium of our periodicals. When I first heard of Christian Science, I had for three years been seeking health in different ways, but without success. A severe nervous breakdown, with internal trouble, acute neuralgia, and great weakness, had made life seem a burden to me, and necessitated several absences of three and four months from my occupation as a teacher, besides many shorter periods. During those three years I was unable to attend a service, lecture, concert, or meeting of any kind. If able to take up the management of my school at all, the work was done in pain and weariness, and every evening was spent on the couch, in preparation for the next day's duties.

I had exhausted all material remedies, with no permanent good results, when a cousin in Brisbane, Australia, sent me a Sentinel, and told me of the wonderful curative power of Christian Science; also how its teaching had "opened the very gates of heaven" to him, although he had previously been an earnest church worker for many years. At his suggestion I wrote to London for the loan of a copy of Science and Health, which, however, I eventually returned, with no conviction that it could help me. In spite of this, the Sentinel still continued to come from over the sea, with its message of hope and healing; and as I read the many beautiful testimonies, I became convinced at last that what had helped others could surely benefit me. We therefore wrote for a Christian Science practitioner, whom we ever remember with grateful love; for the weekend she spent with us formed an epoch in our lives, as we received immediate help and commenced the earnest study of Christian Science.

My mother was healed of several complaints, including heart trouble and acute rheumatism, while my own health began at once to improve. As my understanding grew, I became well and strong, and was soon fulfilling my duties with ease and pleasure; in addition to which I was enabled to lay aside glasses, defective eyesight being instantaneously healed through my realization of sight as spiritual. Here I should like to emphasize the far-reaching influence of the "word in season," as proved in this instance; for after the healing in our family, the little company of three, studying Christian Science, soon grew to six. Later, weekly services were commenced, which we had the great privilege of holding in our home for two years, these services being the origin of the Christian Science society in this city. Thus, with strong confidence we may send this gospel of healing far and wide, with the full assurance that it will bear fruit a hundredfold, even though it may be "after many days."
