I first heard of Christian Science in 1890

I first heard of Christian Science in 1890. We had moved West, hoping a change of climate would improve my husband's health; but it was only a temporary relief, and friends suggested a trial of Christian Science. He was healed in what some would call a miraculous manner, for with the third day's treatment he said he felt like a new man; that the experience of health and strength was like light coming into a dark room. "Very well," I said, "if this is what Christian Science does, we will have no more medicine;" and neither of us has taken any since. The healing was from a severe form of rheumatism, kidney trouble, and a tobacco habit of forty-five years' standing. We began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and to attend the Science services. About three weeks later I asked for treatment and was brought through a severe attack of fever. Since then I have been healed of other ailments, supposed to be hereditary. I am rapidly learning that when hatred, and a sense that I had been wronged, and many other mortal errors are eradicated from consciousness, I shall be free from all physical ills. I am trying more and more to see error as impersonal and no part of God's creation. I have a great sense of gratitude to the Giver of all good for revealing to us, through the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, this great truth.

Mrs. Isabella B. Keyes, Washington, D. C.

On the first day of April, 1908, while residing at Waukesha, Wis., our little daughter, then four years old, was bitten by a dog, a beautiful St. Bernard, the child's almost constant companion, which seemed to love her dearly up to the time of the attack. After dinner on the date mentioned, the little one ran to play with the dog, as was her custom, and was standing in front of him when he suddenly snapped at her face, lacerating it dreadfully.
