AMONG THE CHURCHES

Greater Cleveland is to have a new Christian Science church. A transfer has been recorded whereby First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Lakewood has purchased, at Virginia and Detroit avenues N. W., a site for the new church. The property is a vacant lot, one hundred and thirty feet front with a depth of one hundred and seventy-five feet. The purchase price was five thousand eight hundred dollars.

At present the Christian Scientists of Lakewood are holding services in the McCaskey Building, Belle and Detroit avenues N. W. The quarters are too small, so that another place of worship must be sought before the new edifice is constructed. The new church will cost about ten thousand dollars and will be modeled after First Church of Christ, Scientist, Cleveland. Building operations probably will be started within a year.

The Christian Science doctrine has spread rapidly in Lakewood in the last year and the present membership in the Lakewood church is several hundred. By the time the new church is completed it is expected that another hundred will have been added.—Cleveland Plain Dealer.
