With the kindly assurance that "God is no respecter of...
With the kindly assurance that "God is no respecter of persons," the truth of Christian Science was presented to me about four years ago, at a time when I was in great need, mentally, financially, and spiritually. Through a dependency on material things for success and happiness, my condition had become one of great sorrow and discouragement, and I was penniless after years of hard work. With the coming of the gospel of Christian Science, a new but old way was opened up to me, and gladly did I turn to God, whom I had never known aright. With earnest application to the study of the Bible and the Christian Science text-book, the discordant conditions of material thought were slowly but surely overcome, and I gained the spiritual realization that God is Love and Truth,—an ever-present help in trouble. I have proved this over and over again, with the grain of understanding which I have of the truth. I was long afflicted with severe headaches, always keeping at hand a supply of material remedies for the same; but, since knowing God's way, I have never had to resort to any other. My work requires long hours of mental and physical exertion, but often I have gone two days and a night with perhaps only an hour's rest, knowing that I was sustained by divine Love, and that I could do this without exhaustion.
At the end of a year, after having received many physical blessings, I still carried the burden of belief in limitation. I was trying to work out my problem as I thought it should be done, but one day, while reading some of the Christian Science literature, I was shown where I was unconsciously using mortal methods to get rid of this burden. Was I resigned to the will of God? Was I rightfully seeking the rest Jesus promised to the heavy laden? With this awakening, which proved another appearing of the truth, I resigned myself to God's will, and in a short time all was changed for the better, and in a few months all the debts of years of adverse circumstances were paid.
Words cannot express my gratitude for this wonderful truth, but I earnestly desire to live the life of a Christian Scientist. My little boy was beautifully healed from the effects of a very severe accident, and I am indeed thankful to God for His never-failing help to all who turn to Him. I am also grateful to our dear Leader, who has shown us how to know God aright.
