This testimony must beging with an expression of deep gratitude for the many blessings which I have received through the study and application of the Principle of Christian Science. I am truly thankful, first of all, to God, the giver of "every good gift and every perfect gift;" then to our beloved Leader, whose great love for humanity has enabled her to be the means of uplifting thousands to an entirely new and better sense of life. For her noble example I am very grateful, and it is my earnest wish to follow it, in some measure at least. I am also grateful to the Publishing Society for the pure and helpful literature sent out.

When our second little boy was a tiny babe, I overtaxed my strength, which resulted in a hemorrhage, also a pain in the back which continued for over a year. Then our little daughter came, and six weeks later I was still an invalid. In addition to the conditions mentioned there was extreme weakness, so that I had to lie down nearly all the time. A severe case of inaction of the bowels also manifested itself, with aggravations which caused me great discomfort. My husband wished me to consult a physician, but a year and a half before that time I had taken a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy out of the public library and read it, and now I desired to give the truth contained in that book a trial.

From that first reading I had been healed of a chronic stomach disorder which had troubled me for nearly two years, and although at the time I attributed the cure to a change of diet, I now know that it was the action of Truth, even though I did not clearly understand it. The relief from worry and fatigue, and the sense of peace which followed, were very great; but error crept in, in the form of false reports when I made inquiries about Christian Scientists, for I had never known any one personally who believed in Science. Divine Love, however, did open the way when I was really ready.
