I wish to express my loving gratitude to our dear Leader...
I wish to express my loving gratitude to our dear Leader for her courageous proclamation of freedom to all humanity, in the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," from which emanated the scientific healing of the sick, the regeneration of the sinful, and the resurrection of many from the death decreed for them by materia medica. Through this great teaching I was healed from a supposedy incurable liver trouble, with which I had suffered all my life. I had sought advice and treatment from specialists in all our larger cities, but without any cure. The disease had reached the point where death seemed inevitable, and very near, when Christian Science was brought to my attention. From the day I turned to it as a last resort and found God, the only true God, five years ago, I have never taken any medicine.
I have since been healed of many minor troubles also. The human selfhood which I supposed must be subdued, when I first commenced to study Christian Science, has through the application of the truth become a blessing instead of a detriment, for it is now being governed by God. Mrs. Eddy says, "Whatever is governed by God, is never for an instant deprived of the light and might of intelligence and Life" (Science and Health, p. 215). The material sense of constant pleasure or pain in matter has given place to the joyousness of spiritual consciousness. So much has this spiritual sense become a reality that when a friend asked me, some time ago, if I had sent in my testimony of healing to the publications, I was surprised to find that the healing from the death-dealing disease, and all its sufferings, had been entirely submerged beneath the uplifting of the spiritual realization of Truth, found in the Bible, which was illuminated by its study in connection with the Christian Science text-book.
I shall try to show my gratitude and express the joy of my spiritual growth by a life sustained and governed by the Christ-Mind, and consecrated to the truth, desiring each day to grow more and more into the stature of Christ, and to follow our beloved Leader in devotion to my brother man.—Mrs. Eleanor H. Burr, La Jolla, Cal.
