Over seven years ago, through what the physicians claimed a general nervous breakdown, my eyes failed me completely and some eighteen months of this time was spent in hospitals and sanitariums under the care of five of the best oculists in the United States, with varying success but no permanent relief. Their advice was that an operation might help, but that this could not be guaranteed; and without the operation complete blindness would result. This condition prevailed until along in March, 1910. While able to get about the house with difficulty, I could not go away from home without an attendant and could not see to cross the street without help.

About this time Christian Science was suggested to me, and I began taking treatment. Now, thanks be to God, I can see and go wherever I wish, and I can read the Bible and Science and Health; my sight is getting better every day, and my general health is perfectly fine. I never felt better in my life; but the physical healing, while perfectly glorious, is nothing compared to the spiritual uplift that has come to me since I accepted Christian Science. This help has made me deeply compassionate for those who are suffering as I was, and my gratitude for this wonderful truth which has been so ably and unselfishly worked out and presented to mankind by Mrs. Eddy, knows no bounds. To God, and to all who have assisted me in learning of this truth that makes free, I am deeply grateful.
