I wish to express my gratitude to Christian Science for what it has done for me. Through the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, was permanently cured of the tobacco habit (chewing and smoking) of about twenty years' standing, also of the drinking habit, to which I had been a victim for the last fifteen years. I was at this time in the United States and very ill. My brother sent me a copy of the text-book, and besides the help mentioned its study has also greatly benefited me mentally and physically. All honor to its beloved Discoverer, the first among women to found a religion.

About three years ago I realized a greater sense of gratitude than ever before, and when I questioned myself as to its true cause, I found that it was not only because I had been healed of diseases which had resisted all medical treatment, but because at last I knew that there is a God,—one who loves us all. I had just been brought out of a very critical condition, resulting from a hereditary bowel trouble, according to some physicians, and therefore incurable. This had developed into stomach and intestinal disorders, attacks of appendicitis and gall-stones, etc.
