When I read the testimonies of healing in our periodicals
When I read the testimonies of healing in our periodicals. I wonder if any have greater occasion for thanksgiving than I. When Christian Science came to me I had been for eight months under a special treatment for lung trouble, and had been advised to move into the country away from the seashore. Day by day the laws of materia medica were holding me in heavier bondage, and when at last the doctor, after telling me that he had found traces of tuberculosis, had left the house and I was all alone, I threw myself on the floor and cried out to God that I could not have it so, and that I must stay to care for my family,—a husband and our daughter of eight years.
My prayer was truly answered, and man's extremity proved to be God's opportunity, for I sought healing in Christian Science. It came slowly and sometimes it seemed difficult to get even a glimpse of the truth; but my practitioner was patient, and at last the healing was realized, although it was three years before I could be sure that I was rejoicing in perfect health. Each one of the family has proved the power and presence of God in healing, and many problems have been worked out according to the rules of divine Principle,—in the home, in the school, and in the business life. Today we are rejoicing in the knowledge that God is our Father and Mother, the source of all the good that has come into our experience, and as a family manifest so much of the harmony and health which belong to the children of God. We look to Him in every need, "and never look in vain," to quote from our Hymnal.
Words fail in trying to tell all that has come to me through the understanding of Christian Science, and I feel that I can best express my gratitude by living each day nearer to God, in love to man and in obedience to God's laws. I am thankful to God, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for this truth which she was brave enough to give to the world when it was revealed to her. The world today calls her "blessed."
