Christian Science came to me several years ago, while...
Christian Science came to me several years ago, while I was looking for something to help my mother of what seemed to us then an incurable disease. My interest was first awakened by reading an article in one of the Journals. I had heard of Mrs. Eddy as being the Founder of Christian Science, but it was not until I had read several Journals through that I learned there was a book given up wholly to the subject of Christian Science. I then obtained a copy of Science and Health and began to read it, and before I had read it through once I was healed of an enlargement on my shoulder which I had had for some time; and it has never returned. As soon as I learned what the reading of this book would do, I could not help being grateful to its author for bringing this truth to the world and showing us how to apply it for ourselves.
I would like to tell of a demonstration which I made over an injured ankle when I had very little knowledge of Christian Science. I was riding my wheel one day when I fell and caught my foot in the pedal. My ankle felt as if it had been badly hurt, and I wondered if I could walk. I found that I could, and I reached my home without any one noticing anything unusual. I spent most of the afternoon in my room, reading and treating myself. At might I could with great difficulty remove my shoe, but in a week the pain was entirely gone, though the swelling and discoloration lasted a little longer. No one in the house knew that anything had happened and I did not call upon a practitioner. From that time my ankle has been perfectly well and strong. When I was a child this same ankle was injured, and for many months I could not bear my weight on the foot without a bandage, and long after that it was weak. This is only one of many, many proofs that Christian Science is the truth.
