When my attention was first called to Christian Science...
When my attention was first called to Christian Science I gave it little consideration, but I am very grateful that I have since learned a little of the Principle of being as made known by Mrs. Eddy, and I am glad to make the following statement of healing through Christian Science.
One evening during the summer of 1908 I suffered a loss of consciousness, falling to the ground in a small yard. None of my family were at home at the time, and my condition was called to the attention of neighbors, who came to my assistance. Loss of consciousness was followed by hemorrhage of stomach and bowels, and this condition continued for an hour, during which I was conscious for only short intervals. The neighbors became alarmed and called a physician. When the doctor arrived I was conscious, and he diagnosed the case as one of poisoning. He left without suggesting any treatment, but instructed the neighbors to call him promptly should another attack occur, and directed that I be kept on very light nourishment for a few days and as quiet as possible. Soon after he left, my family came home, and an hour later another attack came on and I again lost consciousness. I had become so weakened that during the time of consciousness it was necessary for me to be assisted to move myself in bed. While I was unconscious a Christian Science practitioner was called by telephone, and absent treatment given, under which I quickly regained consciousness and a feeling of perfect relief. One treatment entirely removed the trouble, strength returned rapidly, and my regular duties were interrupted for one day only.
To know that there is unfailing help in any trouble is a comfort that cannot be adequately described.
